Claro Walnut Lumber Supply
The Claro Walnut tree pictured here was planted in the early1860's and was recently harvested due to failing health. This extraordinary tree will live again in the form of beautiful handcrafted furniture, as well as masterfully crafted musical instruments. We derive a great deal of satisfaction by having the opportunity to save these trees for posterity. Not so many years ago, these trees would have likely ended up as firewood, or simply been buried and left to rot.

California Black Walnut

This is my good friend Rich, when he is not flying C-17's for the U.S. military, he helps us rescue ancient walnut trees.

Hard to believe that the log pictured here is a limb sawn from the tree displayed at the top of this page.

These are the sawn slabs from the Claro Walnut limb displayed above. They were milled 3 1/4" thick and measure 24" to 38" wide by 13' long. The wood displays an extraordinary curl pattern running their entire length. The rule of thumb for air drying slabs to 10% moisture content or less is one year of drying for every inch of thickness.
